I am Katherine Going and this is my story.
On August 25, 2014, my whole world would never be the same again. It was the day that I received my oldest daughter’s diagnosis of being autistic. Finally, I had my answer as to why she acted the way that she did. When she was 2 years old, I thought that she would never be able to call me ‘mommy.’ I longed for the day for her to be able to communicate her needs to me like other children did to their mothers. Every day I worried about dropping her off at school not knowing if she would be bullied, because she wasn’t like the other kids in her class.
After 6 years, my husband and I finally had our answers why. I knew that I had to advocate for other children like my daughter. I knew that I had to do something to get involved and make a difference. I felt that if I didn’t do something, then who else would do it for me.
Working for the Republican Party allows me to advocate for other mothers like myself. Every day I spend my time advocating to protect our God given rights of protecting our liberties that our founding fathers intended for us. As a mother, I know what is best for my children and my family. The Republican Party of Florida allows me to be at the forefront of helping other mothers like myself who are concerned about the future of our next generation. Protecting my three daughters is my ultimate priority. Today is the day to get involved and help protect our next generation, so that they will know the America that we once knew.
