U.S. Senator Marco Rubio recognized with RPOF Leadership Award for exemplary advocacy for Puerto Rican community

TALLAHASSEE, FL- On Thursday, Nov. 2, the Republican Party of Florida hosted Vice President Mike Pence during the 2017 Statesman’s Dinner in Orlando, FL.

Taking place at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, the Statesman’s Dinner is recognized as the largest fundraising event, bringing together donors and influential grassroots leaders from across the state.

“Tonight, hundreds of grassroots leaders throughout Florida heard an optimistic and powerful Conservative message,” said RPOF Chairman Blaise Ingoglia. “This Statesman’s Dinner marked a unique experience in that it was the first time in 16 years a Vice President addressed our Party’s largest fundraiser, and we could not be more excited!”

The event boasted an extraordinary lineup of notable Republican voices such as: Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives Richard Corcoran (R-Land O’Lakes); former Attorney General of Puerto Rico Jose Fuentes; Senate President-Designate Bill Galvano (R-Bradenton); Lieutenant Governor Carlos Lopez-Cantera; Florida Senate President Joe Negron (R-Martin/St. Lucie); House Speaker-Designate Jose Oliva (R-Miami Lakes); Florida Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis and Florida Commissioner of Agriculture Adam Putnam.

The night’s headlining speaker Vice President Mike Pence delivered remarks about the Sunshine State’s importance in the 2016 elections and echoed President Trump's vision for a stronger, bolder America.

“Thanks to Florida’s strong support, last November, our President won a historic victory with more than 4.6 million Florida votes. We all know that the surest path to the strongest comeback requires renewing the promise of America – and I’m here tonight to tell you that President Trump is doing exactly that by rolling back the heavy hand of government,” Pence said.

The Vice President went on to emphasize the importance of tax reform, cutting the federal red tape, and fueling the great revival of American industry.

“Optimism is sweeping America!” Pence added. “And under President Trump’s leadership, we’re gonna cut taxes across the board for working families, small businesses, and family farms. The President and I are committed to working with all of Florida’s Republican leaders in the Congress to give the American people the kind of tax cuts and tax reform that will make the American economy great again.”

Also, during the 2017 Statesman’s Dinner, an RPOF Leadership Award was given to U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL), honoring his unwavering leadership on behalf of our State, and his commitment to the Puerto Rican community after Hurricane Maria.

“I had the opportunity to visit Puerto Rico days after Hurricane Maria, and the strength and resilience of its people inspired me,” Senator Marco Rubio said. “Our fellow American citizens live in Puerto Rico, including many who have served our country and made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our freedom. I am humbled by this award, and stand committed to the Puerto Rican people to do everything in my power to help rebuild the island.”

Ingoglia added: “Every day it is more evident that the Democrat Party is completely out of touch with the American people. In 369 days, we will be back at the polls and I hope you take this Statesman’s Dinner as a rallying cry for the 2018 midterm elections, kicking off support for solid Republican candidates whose ideals of free markets, less government, and lower taxes will make for a stronger and more prosperous Florida and United States of America.”
