This morning Gov. Ron DeSantis stood with South Florida elected leaders who are working together, speaking with one voice, to ensure the safety of Florida residents during these unprecedented times.  For more than a month, Gov. DeSantis has tirelessly crisscrossed the state, working with state and local leaders ensuring that all Floridians stay updated. Gov. DeSantis is resolutely leading the state through the coronavirus outbreak with measured, informed, effective actions to protect the health and rights of Floridians.

This afternoon Gov. DeSantis will be signing two Executive Orders. The first Executive Order urges and advises residents in Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach and Monroe Counties to stay home through mid-April to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The order also codifies a set of rules which are already in place in South Florida. The goal is to make sure that all four counties continue working together by the same set of rules.

The Governor’s second Executive Order will lift restrictions on retired personnel allowing them to be able to return to the workforce.  The order specifically addresses recently retired law enforcement and healthcare professionals allowing them to go back to work. These are truly unprecedented times, with much changing on a daily basis. Which makes it so encouraging to see the dedicated, often selfless, Floridians who are working around the clock to keep us updated on data, safe on the streets and at home, and caring for all of the sick. To all these heroes, we offer our most heartfelt thanks.
